I made the decision to add the month of August to the contest. I was about to last year but chose not to. THis year with the slow start I feel it is warranted.

The contest is about challenging ourselves and I think August is a great month to chase some of these species.

Greenwood has a great lead!
I haven't even tried for micros this year yet. Thanks Aaron.
I am in the same boat Fins!

I targeted them once and caught my Sand Shiners. Been a rough year for High water, late ice out, and just plain busy.
Awesome!! Really cool you extended the contest.
I fish for all species, all the time!
This should be fun. Good thing April wasn't included since that's when I'm doing my southern micro trip this year. I'm in Kentucky right now and headed further south. Lots of rain unfortunately and muddy creeks everywhere.
I think august is good with low water in creeks. Mike maybe you could come my way and chase them black sided darters. That would be prime time.
Sounds good Eric.

Kinda scary being a country boy in the concrete jungle. But not too much different than downtown Rochester I bet...

Thanks Doc - trumped by the spadeface again, but helped a friend land their first carp - 30 inch-ish nice fish. I got a drum - better than skunks!

Fishing in the metro area....quite the experience. Sky scrapers and bottom rigged crawlers. And tug boat carp!

...I don't have much free time or opportunity to fish, and I'm still learning, so thanks for understanding and for any angling advice

Thanks, Aaron, wasn't planning on avoiding the warm weather - I like it. I was wondering if/how hot humid weather affects the bite?

Always a better chance when you go. Can't catch them while in the air conditioning.

Hot steamy weather = hot or cold bite? Finally got a little time set aside for a try at a spadeface this weekend but wondering if the tropical heat will quash the bite?

Could be an interesting June contest this year with all this rain and high water...

I was in Taylors falls today and I would not even try to fish it. It is killer level there.
